Merry Christmas!

Happy Thursday!  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!  We had a wonderful day celebrating with family on Christmas Eve and flew out to San Francisco on Christmas Day for a family vacation.  We are sightseeing and enjoying the city very much!

This week at BBTB2, we are shared some of the Christmas cards we made for friends and family, so I have a included a few I made below.  I didn't get this post up in time for Christmas Day-just a little too much festive fun going on!  These are all scrap lifted from cards I saw on Pinterest.  I will go back and link these up to the originals on Pinterest when I get back from vacay next week.

Dear Santa layout

Happy Monday!  Christmas is almost upon us....I've got lots of wrapping and baking to do this week.  It's always a challenge to get any cookies made for parties because the kids eat them as fast as I make them!  We are spending Christmas Eve with our extended family and I'm looking forward to good times and treat.  Gotta get the high schoolers through finals week first, though.  I might have to sneak a few of the cookies myself!  (They don't have any calories when you eat them on Christmas Day, right?)

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is all about Santa!  The Santa on my layout is from the Jolly Holidays cartridge, with his bag full of toys and goodies.  I'll be taking lots of happy snaps of the present openings over Christmas, so now I've got a layout all ready!  There are lots of jolly Santas to see over at BBTB2 from the rest of the design team and you can link your project up there.  I wish you all a wonderful holiday full of friends, family, and celebration!!!!

xmas gifts boxes treats

Happy Monday!  We have "survived" a week of multiple school concerts and events, plus a birthday. Finals week for the college kid starts today and the highschoolers next week.  Family stress levels are at Defcon 2 and rising.  I think I need some eggnog stat!  And maybe a quiet dark room.  Definitely some diet coke!!!!  My goal for this week is to provide as much comfort as possible for the stressed out teens and recover my own holiday spirit by wrapping some gifts in my PJs.  Thank goodness for Amazon prime delivery to the door of all the Christmas gifts!  I'm sure some of Santa's Elves are working for Amazon, lol.  While I would like to do some local shopping, there just isn't any time!

In the spirit of wrapping gifts, our BBTB2 challenge this week is Christmas gifts, boxes, or embellished treats.  Along with all the bows, boxes, and wrapping paper, my gift wrap area has this little cutie of a Christmas tree box waiting for some goodies!  I made it using the Cricut Artiste cartridge and it was super simple to fold and put together.  Like, you can make this thing lickety split and look like a rock star in the gift wrapping department!  It's the perfect size for that secret Santa gift of candy or tiny treat at work....not saying that's what I'm doing with or anything, so if you are one of my workmates reading this, it's totally not from me!  The design team over at BBTB2 has some festive projects for you to see to get inspired and you can link up your holiday project.  I wish you all a not too stressful week that holds a Christmas treat or two!

Deck the Halls layout

Happy Monday!  Can you believe it's December already?  I managed to get my holiday decorations up over Thanksgiving weekend, so it's feeling festive around my house!  My hubby is already over listening to Mannheim Steamroller Christmas tunes while I'm crafting, lol!  And he's got a whole month to go!!!  This week is full of school related Christmas concerts, so he better get onboard with the Christmas tunes!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is Christmas trees.  I love the piney smell of a fresh Christmas tree!  We got ours last weekend, so I already have tree pictures to put on the layout I made, just need to get them printed.  I used the Winter Frolic cartridge for the trees and title.  The design team has some awesome tree projects for you over at BBTB2 and you can link your project up this week as usual.

Mittens winter card

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Much turkey was consumed at my house and despite smoking TWO turkeys, all the turkey was sadly gone by about 10:00 AM on Friday.  Maybe we need to up that to three turkeys next year.  Teen boy appetites are truly boundless!

Are you shopping Cyber Monday?  I am...you could not pay me enough money to venture forth on Black Friday to shop.  Shopping from home in comfy fleece and fuzzy socks is how I roll.  Amazon prime, baby!  I plan to do a little craft supply shopping among the Christmas gifts-do you think hubby will notice?  LOL!!!!!  So our BBTB2 challenge this week is acknowledging winter cold-use a coat, jacket, scarf, or mitten cricut cut on your project.  While it's been rather unseasonably warm here, I know the cold will get here eventually.  I used the Jolly Holiday cartridge for the mittens and Elegant Edges for the scalloped squares on my card.  Hope you will join us this week for some crafty fun and you can link your project up over at BBTB2.

Thanksgiving

Happy Monday!  Are you looking forward to maybe having a day or two off for Thanksgiving this week?  I know I am!  We are hosting Thanksgiving for some of our extended family plus a random college student or two....my college freshman is bringing home some classmates who live too far away to get home for the holiday, meaning we are feeding a lot of teenage boys.  So my husband is smoking not one, but TWO turkeys and we are planning on cooking up lots and lots of food!  I'll let you know if there are any leftovers, lol.  We only did one turkey last year and had to eat frozen pizza for supper on Thanksgiving day as the kids mowed down ALL the food for lunch.  Live and learn, right?

Moving on to crafty matters, our BBTB2 challenge this week is an anything goes Thanksgiving challenge.  I used the new CTMH You Are Here cartridge to make a layout for some of the photos I plan to snap over the holiday.  I did a little stamping (which you can't see very well in the big pic, so I added a few closeups) for accents.  The design team has shared Thanksgiving projects over at BBTB2 and you can link one up this week as well.  I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving!

based on a movie or a book

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 theme this week is "based on a book or movie".  There is a story about my layout this week, which is based on the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty.  Several years ago we went to Disney World and to my great surprise, my preteen and teen age boys begged to meet the princesses.  So along with all the little girls dressed in princess gear, we slogged through a huge line until magically, there were Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Belle.  The boys were starstruck!  It was their favorite thing they did on that trip....who would have guessed?  Not me!  While I have most of the pics from that trip scrapped, I never got around to doing all the princess pictures, so Sleeping Beauty got her layout with the fellas.  Hope you will join us with a book or movie inspired project this week!  You can see the DT projects over at BBTB2.

superhero birthday card

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge theme this week is superheroes.  I have some family birthdays over this next few weeks, so I made a superhero birthday card with one of the adorable birds from 3 Birds on Parade.  Doesn't he look splendid flying off to greet the birthday boy?  Now I've got to come up with a suitably super gift!  The design team has some "super"  :) projects involving superheroes over at BBTB2 and you can link up a project there all week.

Music Speaks layout

Happy Monday!  Have you gotten into the Halloween candy yet?  I will confess that I planned to take "just one" during a chocolate emergency (am I the only one that has those?) and one turned into.....well, let's not put an exact number on it!  All the candy in my house needs to be gone on Tuesday!!!!!  I'm sure the kids will be glad to get right on that, lol!

I am hosting the challenge over at BBTB2 this week and I chose a very general challenge theme-use any of the many cricut words on your project.  This leaves your project choices wide open!  The design team has some amazing projects to get you inspired below.  I was scrapping pictures of the kids from a musical event and used a phrase from the Quarter Note cartridge.

ghouls and monsters card

Happy Monday!  It's been a busy week of work, band competitions, high school football games, and concerts!  And guess what's coming up soon?  Halloween!  And that's our BBTB2 challenge theme this week as well.  I have already taken some Halloween themed pictures, as the high school band performed their halftime show in Halloween costumes this weekend instead of their uniforms.  They had a competition going among the band for groups with the best costume theme.  My son and his friends decided to be characters from the Wii game Super Mario Kart.  Seeing him conduct the band dressed as Mario, complete with mustache, and using our Wii controller as his conducting stick was pretty hilarious, as you can see!

However, for my project this week, I made cards to send to the college kids (my son and niece), which will go in a care package with some treats.  I used the adorable monster from the Artistry cartridge with some paper from the stash.  I think it'll be a hit...card and candy!  You can play along and link up a project over at BBTB2 and see the fun design team creations.

travel road trip Adventure Awaits layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is a road trip theme.  We bought Son#1 a used little pick-up truck in August to drive on the ultimate road trip.....away to college!  I'm sure he will be having many adventures in this truck over the next few years-there is nothing like the freedom of your first set of wheels (that isn't the family mini-van, lol!).   I used the CM Traveler cartridge along with some road sign paper from the stash for this layout.  Hope you will join us over at BBTB2 with a project and see the fun creations from the design team!

Pizza Night layout

Happy Monday!  It's been a beautiful fall weekend in KC and I have been busy watching my all my boys perform at fall festivals, football games, and band marching competitions!  Needless to say, I took lots of pictures!  All those fall layouts are going to be filled up with photos for sure.

This week's BBTB2 challenge is Beer and Pizza.  We are a family who appreciates their pizza, so I had the perfect photos to scrap from a vacation trip to Chicago where we sampled Chicago style deep dish pizza.  Very different from pizza here in KC, but soooooo delicious!  I found a great set of cricut cuts for pizza on the Family Album cartridge for my layout and this checked paper from Doodlebug reminded me of a tablecloth.  You can see yummy design team projects over at BBTB2 and link up a project this week there.

pumpkin Fall Festival layout

Happy Monday!  The weather actually feels a bit more like fall here in KC, with slightly cooler temps and we are just starting to see the first color in the leaves!  There are many fall festivals going on-I was at my suburb's festival and parade this weekend to watch Son#2 lead the high school marching band and I think I'm still in a sugar coma from too many funnel cakes!  Can't resist that yummy festival food!!!

In keeping with fall, our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a pumpkin cut on a project.  I just got the You Are Here CTMH cricut cartridge for my birthday last month and used the pumpkin cut on it for my layout for pics from the fall festival.  I'm having so much scrappy fun playing with it!  The design team over at BBTB2 has lots of pumpkin-y goodness for you to see and you can link up a project too.

Fabulous Fall layout

Happy Monday!  Has it felt like fall in your neck of the woods?  It still feels like hot, sticky late summer here in Kansas City.  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is fall....but my current events are full of shorts, t-shirts, and swimming pools.  With a little high school football mixed in.  However, I had pictures from last year of two of my sons playing fiddle at a local fall festival, so I whipped up this fabulous fall layout using the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge.  I love this cartridge and I think I've used almost every single cut on it at one time or another.  Hope you will join us over at BBTB2 and submit a project!  You can see the design team projects for inspiration there as well.  We also now have a Facebook group you can join.

Love you to the core apple card

Happy Monday!  It was a week of illness at my house but I'm happy to report that ice cream does, in fact, make everything better.  Sick people AND mom's mood, lol!  If they could only make a no calorie ice cream, I think a lot of the world's problems could be solved....ice cream for all!  If only it were that easy, right?

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use an apple.  My oldest son and one of my nieces went off to college this fall and they've let me know college students like getting mail from home!  So I'm planning to send both of them some fun little cards and packages every few weeks and I made this one with an apple for my niece.  I used my favorite cricut apple from Doodlecharms and paired it with this "love you to the core" stamp.  It's going to be fun making some cute cards to make them smile!  Take a look at the harvest-full of apple projects over at BBTB2 and make something cute yourself to link up!

Fall layout

Hello Monday!  For anyone who lives in the hurricane affected areas, I know it is not such a great Monday...and I pray you come through the storm safely.  Everyone at my house is sick and cranky, so my week is going to be a drag.  I think large quantities of ice cream might make it better though-I'll report back next week if that works, lol!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is fall leaves.  I used the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge for my fall layout with leaves and pumpkins.  We have several fall festivals on the calendar in the next month, so this layout is made with some of those pictures in mind.  All the cuts are from Cheerful Seasons.  Check out the design team projects and link yours up over at BBTB2.

football

Happy Labor Day Monday!  I am actually working all weekend  at the hospital since it's a 24/7 kind of place, but I hope some of you are getting to enjoy a 3 day weekend!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is football.  I happen to be going to ALL our high school football games this year, as Son#2 is a drum major for the marching band.  It's so exciting to see him up on the podium directing the band for the half time show!  (It's not so much about the football....).   Of course I'm gonna be that crazy band mom who takes 70 billion pictures on the field!  My football-ish layout uses the Graphically Speaking cartridge for the word cuts and arrow, and the football is from the CM This and That cartridge.  I found this awesome football yard line wash tape from Doodlebug that was just the thing for an accent.  There are lots of football projects at BBTB2 and you can link up a project there this week too.

Labor Day-career

Happy Monday!  I missed getting my blog post up last week, as we lost power due to big storms in the KC area.  It makes me appreciate electricity!  My heart is going out to all those who have been displaced from their homes or are without power due to the hurricane.  Our BBTB2 challenge with Labor Day coming up is to celebrate careers in some way.  I made a layout highlighting nurses, as both my mom and I are nurses and my niece is planning to become a nurse.  She recently attended an event for high school students aspiring to be nurses put on by the hospital I work at and left even more convinced that nursing is for her.  So we will be a family with three generations of nurses!

I work as an RN in a cardiothoracic surgery ICU taking care of patients before and after open heart/valve surgeries and heart transplants, so my current job is truly all about hearts.  I thought the title for my layout "Nursing is from the heart" most appropriate in so many ways!  I used a couple of cartridges to make my layout for a picture of my mom, niece, and myself at the event my niece attended at my hospital.  There are lots of different careers on display over at BBTB2 this week and you can link up your project over at BBTB2.

Back to School

Hello Monday!  Well, it's going to be a big life change moving my oldest son into his college dorm for his freshman year this weekend!  While he is going to school close to home, I'm still really going to miss him.  This letting go part of parenting is harder than I thought.  It's back to school week for the other two as well, with my middle son starting his junior year of high school and my youngest starting his freshman year of high school.

As I am hosting the BBTB2 challenge this week, I selected Back to School as our challenge theme.  I always take first day of school pics, so I made my layout using the Artbooking and Locker Talk cartridges.  Gotta have your backpack to be ready to go, right?  I'm going to have to make another project to capture the college move in.  The rest of the design team over at BBTB2 has some great projects to see and you can link yours up too!

Gift tags

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge theme this week is gift tags or bags.  I rarely decorate gift bags, as teenage boys aren't generally too impressed with packaging.  But gift tags are always handy to have around, so I whipped up a few different ones for the challenge with Art Philosophy.

Baby Shower tag
First off, I made one for an upcoming baby shower, using one of the many Art Philosophy cartridge tag options.  I decorated it with a onesie cut from the Stork's Delivery cartridge.  A little ribbon and twine finished it off.

Stork's Delivery-onesie cut at 2.75 in.

Birthday tag

Flower Basket card

Happy Monday!  The weather has moderated to much more pleasant temperatures here in KC, for which I am very grateful.  We are just finishing up a major home renovation project, which has included adding a screened in porch and I am loving being out there now that the weather isn't quite so hot!  Although I'm sure the hot weather will come back, lol!  So our BBTB2 challenge this week is flower accents.  I made a birthday card using the Flower Market cartridge with a hanging basket of flowers, inspired by this card I found on Pinterest.  (Can I just say how much I LOVE Pinterest?  Although it is a major time-suck...I can get lost browsing!).  The design team has some gorgeous flowers for you to see and you can link up your project this week over at BBTB2.

Sun, Sand, and Sea layout

Happy Monday!  It is HOT HOT HOT here in KC with heat indexes well over 100 degrees and our BBTB2 challenge happens to be water fun.  What better way to cool off, right?  It's almost too miserable to be outside here even if you're in water!!  While I normally have lots of pool pictures to scrap, we have been in the middle of a huge pool and deck renovation this summer, so we haven't gotten to swim much.  So I dug back through the "to be scrapped pile" and made two different layouts for pics of Caribbean water fun from awhile back.   You can see all the design team projects over at BBTB2 and link up a project, as always.

Glam Artiste gift card holder

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to make a 3D project.  I am generally not much for 3D decorative items because with 3 teenage boys and a crazy cat, rapid destruction is pretty much  guaranteed.  With that in mind,  I decided to make one of the gift card holders from the Artiste cartridge for a niece's birthday for my 3D project.  My birthday plan is to get her a Sephora gift card (she can have fun at what we call the make-up candy store), so I cut the cute nail polish bottle and lipstick from the Forever Young cartridge to "glam" up my gift card holder.  I love the gift card holder on Artiste and have cut often-it was actually the reason I bought the cartridge!!!  (Because with teens, you get them gift cards or cash....that's what they want!). There are lots of darling 3D projects over at BBTB2 to see that hopefully won't be destroyed immediately,  unlike at my house, so please go check them out and you can link up one of your own.

Sweet Summer Treats layout

Happy Monday!  Is it hot and muggy where you live?  It sure is here in Missouri, making it the perfect time for sweet summer treats of all kinds to cool off!  Sweet summer treats is our challenge theme this week at BBTB2.  My ALL the desserts layout has a funny story:  we went on a cruise two summers ago, and the kids were thrilled to discover you could order more than one dessert for dinner (in fact, you could order ALL the desserts if you wanted).  Well, with three teenage boys, I think we sampled all the desserts every single meal.  There was an abundance of ice cream, cakes, and chocolate treats consumed!  Pretty soon the waiters just stopped asking and brought us everything, lol!  There are some pretty funny dessert pics that will go on this layout, which I accented with the adorable ice cream and popsicles from the Simply Charmed cartridge.  I thought this Echo Park dessert paper was most appropriate!  There are lots of yummy projects to see over at BBTB2 and you can link up your own project, as always.

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is summer nights...   Roasting s'mores over a fire pit seems like classic summer night fun (and I had a whole bunch of pics), so I used the Campin' Critters cartridge for my layout.  The raccoon roasting the s'mores is absolutely one of my favorite cuts on that cartridge!  And of course the sign is also from Campin Critters.  Check out the design team projects over at BBTB2 (apparently a lot of us are into s'mores!) and link up a project this week.

Since I'm hosting at BBTB2  this week, I picked a summer theme for the challenge.  The cricut cuts on my layout have all my favorite things about summer...sunshine, yummy treats, and getting wet!  The title is from an oldie but goodie cartridge-Stretch Your Imagination.  Go check out the designer's awesome projects at BBTB2 and link your own up this week.

Silly Pop Up birthday card

Happy Monday!  It's looking a little sunnier at my house-the teens have survived finals and only have two more days of school!  I'm hoping life will slow down a bit and leave more time for crafting, lol!

Our BBTB2 challenge is a birthday theme this week.  There is a story behind my card-I recently made a pop up birthday card for my niece, who loves to knit.  Her gift was a funny t-shirt with lines from the Dr. Seuss book altered to feature knitting, such as "I will knit on a train, on a boat, on a plane".  It was hilarious!  So for my pop up card to go with the gift, I added things that were mentioned on the shirt, using a couple of cartridges.  It came out really fun and she loved it.  I made my pop up card using this tutorial from split coast stampers.  There are cute birthday projects to see over at BBTB2 and you can link your project up there this week as well.

Graduation layout

Happy Monday!  It's been a roller coaster emotional week at my house.  Son#1 graduated from high school Friday night!  Not only did he graduate with honors in the top 10% of his class, he is also an International Baccalaureate diploma candidate and won a medal as the Outstanding English student of his high school on Honor's Day.  I'm not ashamed to admit I cried tears of pride and joy.  I remember so clearly the day he was born and now he has grown up into an amazing man and I look forward to seeing what his future holds as he heads to college in the fall.

Fortunately for me, our BBTB2 challenge this week is a graduation theme-and you know I took plenty of graduation pictures Friday night! So...naturally I made a graduation layout.  It's fairly simple design, as the pictures will be the focus, but I accented my large photo (which will be a fantastic pic of the cap toss at the end) with the graduation cap from Locker Talk.   The design team has ideas for cards, layouts, etc for graduation, so take a look and link up a project.
